GREAT FACES OF DORSET

The first in the series, Great Faces of Dorset, was published in November 2014. After a tremendous book launch at St Giles House, Wimborne St Giles, thanks to the Earl and Countess of Shaftesbury, the book went on to sell out within a few months.

About / Us

Millie
Pilkington

The Writer

Liz has written articles for magazines including Grand Heritage Hotels International, Staffordshire Life and more recently Dorset Life for their series 'Living Treasures of Dorset' where they feature some of the more rural characters from Great Faces of Dorset.

She aims to find a new angle on each of her interviewees and represent them in a way that is honest and entertaining. Her writing for Great Faces of Dorset has been described as "award-winning" "brilliant" and "zippy". She is fascinated by people and endeavours to discover what makes them tick. Great Faces is the perfect vehicle for studying different personalities and conveying the beauty and diversity of the people around us.

Her career path has been eclectic with experience in the wine trade, Lloyds' broking, the television industry and education. Writing, however, has always been a part of the journey.

The Photographer

Millie's ability to create stunning, artistic and memorable portraits that capture the spirit of her subjects at their most intimate and relaxed has made her one of the most highly regarded of a new generation of portrait photographers in the UK. Her sense of humour is evident across much of her photography be it through the twinkle in their eyes, or a quirky composition. For examples of her work, visit: www.milliepilkington.co.uk.

Whilst most of Millie's commissions come from private clients, (including taking the private photographs for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at their wedding, and the official family portrait of the Earl and Countess of Wessex) she has had work published in local, national and international tabloids (including Times, Telegraph, Independent, Country Life, Hello! Dorset Life & Dorset Magazine).

Dedicated to her photography but devoted to her family, Millie grew up in Somerset and now lives with her husband and three daughters near Sherborne in Dorset.

GREAT FACES OF SOMERSET

The next book, Great Faces of Somerset, is in research and we hope to launch this in 2017. It will follow the same format and contain, like Great Faces of Dorset, a diverse selection of people who live and work in the county; from the rural craftsman through to the more urban businessman or woman, artists, professionals and many fascinating people who spend their time achieving amazing things. We feature young and old, rich and poor, famous and undiscovered but all our great faces have common ground - they are unique, interesting and they enhance the lives of the people around them.
